This proposal, made as part of an innovation contest, aims to turn one of the main nuisances of airports, noise,  into an opportunity to generate electric power. To do so, it redesigns airport fencing so that it can serve to this purpose.

To do so, fencing is repurposed as an active element. It is composed of a membrane that vibrates when receiving aircraft sound, and a pole with piezoelectric crystals that is able to convert kinetic energy into electric power.

Despite this generation system would be insufficient for high-capacity energy production, it could be useful for public space lighting, making airport surroundings friendlier and safer.
