An analysis on the growth process of Berlin in the 19th century, so as to decipher which have been the responses the city has given to its expanding needs, both in housing and in urbanism.
Even if rapid expansion through industrialization happened in many European cities, Berlin is a paradoxal example because it grew faster than any other city, and because it constantly improved its housing typologies to attend such demand of workers’ homes.
