A collection of activities to learn how to observe and dissect the urban fabric
Urban design II
Prof. Eulàlia Gómez
The very first step when introducing ourselves to urban design or architecture is to critically observe the existing. Even if design should be tried from the very first day at architecture school, it is important to learn how to analyze built works or cities, so as to evaluate strengths and weaknesses.
In urban design, this process gets to be enjoyable, given that while analyizng cities there is a constant recognition of history, topography and social realities, which have been recorded in the cityscpae but are not immediately obvious to the observer.
In these exercices, done throughout the first urban design courses, different situations of cities such as Barcelona or Granada are analyzed.
